Year One Homework and News 17/3/2022
Good afternoon parents. The end of another great week.
We had a very busy week this week. On Tuesday the children all enjoyed the science workshop. They had to work out, from the clues provided, who had broken into the safe! The children really enjoyed looking at the clues to find out who the criminal was and were successful in finding the culprit!
Today it was St Joseph’s Day so we all joined together, as a school, for mass. It has been such a long time since we have celebrated assembly or mass as a school so it really was very special. During the day we made some wooden lolly stick crosses, to honour the fact that St Joseph was a carpenter. To top off the celebrations an ice cream van came to visit and we all enjoyed a delicious ice cream then extra play.
In maths this week we have been learning about capacity and volume, identifying when our containers were empty, nearly empty, half full, nearly full and full.
In English our book for this week and next is ‘Here Comes Mr Postmouse’. The children really enjoyed learning about the process of posting a letter and wrote their own thank you cards and party invitations to characters from the story.
Here is this week’s homework sheet:
- It is imperative that you continue to practise the real and alien words and phase3 and phase 5 sounds at home. We will be completing another practice phonics screening test paper in the next week or so (please remember that the actual assessment is in June).
- Reading books will be changed Mondays and Fridays
- Our Great Fire of London Drama day is this Tuesday 22nd
Have a lovely weekend,
(Apologies, I was unable to upload photos but will add them to this post on Monday).
