Welcome to Year 6
This page is where you can find information about what we're doing, as well as photographs of any great work the children have done or any special events. Year 6 is a very special year as it is the last one in primary school, so there are many exciting events to look forward to.

Class Saint
Our class saint is St John Bosco, or Don Bosco.
He was born into a poor family in 1815 but in spite of this, he and his family always gave to those worse off than themselves. In spite of his poverty-stricken background and lack of education, John Bosco hoped to become a priest and eventually, by leaving home at the age of 12 to find work and with the help of a local priest teaching him to read, he achieved his aim. Throughout his life, he worked with those in poverty, particularly boys who were unable to get an education and who were getting into trouble.
In 1859, Don Bosco started the Oratory of St. Francis de Sales for boys. This Oratory allowed him to keep the boys out of trouble. Despite objections from parish priests and even the Chief of Police, Don Bosco kept going.
Don Bosco’s success lay in his gentleness and his ability to see through the poverty and dirt, into the hearts and souls of the boys he helped. One of Don Bosco’s boys is a Saint many know well: Saint Dominic Savio.
St John Bosco is the patron saint of apprentices, boys, editors, publishers and schoolchildren. His feast day is January 31st.
