Autumn 1
In English, we will be writing labels, lists and captions, narrative and poetry.
In Maths, we will be looking at Geometry, positional language, ordinal numbers and addition.
In history, we will be looking at personal chronology, making timelines of their lives, adding photographs of themselves at different ages and celebrating a birthday. They will learn how we remember events and make comparisons between childhood now and in the past.
In RE, we will reflect on the story of Creation. They will recognise that the Church teaches that God gave us the responsibility for taking care of the world and its people and in doing this, we show love for God and each other. We will also look at Pope Francis' letter, the Laudato Si’.
In science, children will be identifying materials, describing their properties and distinguishing between an object and the material from which it is made. We will also be looking at seasonal change, from summer to autumn.
In computing, children will learn about online safety, how to log in and log out safely with their own log-ins and how to locate saved work. They will also learn how to sort objects in real life and online.
In PE, they will develop ball skills including sending, catching, tracking and dribbling.
In music, children will focus on singing and using their voices to make sounds.
In PSHE, children will share what makes them unique. They will learn about consequences and rights and responsibilities in class and the wider community.
In art, children will explore control and pressure to explore different types of lines and create lines while using music as a stimulus. They will connect lines to create shapes and then explore lines and shapes in pictures to create self-portraits.
